Tattoo Aftercare
Failure to follow these
instructions properly can extend healing time and prevent your
new work of art from looking its best. Not to mention
the work will not be guaranteed and you will have to pay a
touch-up fee, should you need either additional work done to
a tattoo or a new piercing. PLEASE if you have
any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me. Use
your common sense and do not listen to well-meaning but nonetheless
misinformed friends.
If
you have any questions please contact Stacie.
- Leave the bandage on overnight. I
know you want to show everyone but you will HAVE
to wait.
- Remove the bandage in the morning
when you have your shower. Wash your tattoo gently but thoroughly
using your fingertips. Make sure that it is very
clean.
- DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo
and DO NOT apply cream for the first two-three days;
excess moisture can cause scabbing. During this initial
period wash your tattoo gently and frequently.
- On the second or third day,
apply a cream or ointment two
or three times a day VERY VERY sparingly. Use only
a thin layer, enough to moisturize and prevent drying. The
only reason to apply cream to your tattoo is so that it does
not get uncomfortably dry.
- Recommended products:
- Dermassage cream
- Polysporin
Ointment
- Plain Lubriderm lotion
- Original Keri Moisture Therapy
- Obviously, do not pick or scratch
at your tattoo. It
will become itchy, but please refrain from doing
anything that could risk harming the final product.
- Do not immerse your tattoo
in water for three weeks. Chlorine and salt water
will have a bleaching effect on your tattoo and WILL cause
it to fade.
- Shower daily just as you would
normally; your tattoo will be fine. Just be very gentle with it and
dry it gently. DO NOT apply cream after the shower;
let it dry out for at least an hour. There is no
sense in moisturizing moist skin is there?
- Also, avoid the sun completely
for the first three weeks. After that use sunblock to protect it. There
is nothing in tattoo ink that will protect it from from the
sunlight therefore it will lose colour if you do not protect
it. I recommend Waterbabies 35-50spf.
